The SIL 20 for 2.0 Team wishes to thank Helene Blowers of the Public Libraries of Charlotte Mecklenberg County for developing the original Learning 2.0 program and sharing this program with the library community worldwide. Our program was built upon not only the PLCMC program but those of King County Library System, Skokie Public Library, as well. Without the help of these libraries, we would have no program.

Welcome to 20 for 2.0!

Welcome to the Sno-Isle Libraries 20 for 2.0 Project!
This blog is the home of our staff training program to introduce you to twenty different Web 2.0 concepts. These 20 for 2.0 are new and emerging technologies that are shaping the way people access information, communicate, learn and create. Starting March 1 and running through August 31, you’ll have time to explore new tools and get hands-on experience using them.
20 for 2.0 includes:
  1. Getting Started
  2. Blogging
  3. Tracking Your Progress
  4. RSS and News Readers
  5. Music Resources
  6. Photos and Images
  7. Friend Networks
  8. YouTube
  9. Wikis

  11. Downloadable Media
  12. Image Generators
  13. Podcasts

  20. Relax & Review

Each week of this project is devoted to one item and structured around three themes: What’s It All About?, Try It Out! , and What’s in it for You? We’ll provide a short definition, give you some resources to explore the tools or technologies further, and ask you to complete an assigned task. Bonus challenges, called More to Explore, are available if you finish the task early or want to learn more.

Before launching straight into 20 for 2.0, follow the links in the upper right corner and read the FAQs and Getting Started. If these resources do not answer your questions, leave a comment on this blog post or send an email to sil20for20@gmail.com and the SIL 20 for2.0 Team will respond as quickly as possible. Tech Reports on 20 for 2.0 will be deleted without response.
By participating and completing the 20 for 2.0, you will not only be learning new things, but you will also be actively working to fulfill the Mission of Sno-Isle Libraries:
The mission of Sno-Isle Libraries is to be a community doorway to reading, resources, and lifelong learning, and a center for people, ideas, and culture.
And now… let’s get started on the 20Things!
