You Tube buffering problems

Here’s a tip from IT, if you’ve been experiencing problems viewing You Tube videos, or for that matter any streaming videos. When the video first begins to load hit the pause button and come back in a minute or two. Giving the video a chance to load seems to solve most of the problems people are having with videos starting and stopping.

What is a permalink?
No.3 Tracking Your Progress describes the process for putting permalinks to your blog posting into the SIL 20 for 2.0 progress log. A permalink is the unique URL of each post to your blog. The picture below illustrates just what a permalink is.

This picture from an old Blogger version of the 20 for 2.0 blog contains two posts and naturally two permalinks. The gold box around 12:59 PM shows you the permalink for the post at the top. The second post’s permalink as indicated by the gold box is 12:41PM. The red box “Posted by Sno-Isle Libraries 20 for 2.0″ is the signature line that displays the author of the post. The signature line is not a permalink.
To add a permalink to your progress log follow these steps.
Right click on the permalink, select ‘Copy Shortcut’ from the drop down menu.

Go to the Progress Log and Sign in with your username and password.

Paste your permalink into this week’s box, by right clicking and selecting paste.

Click Submit at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

If you come across an issue or have a question that is not addressed here, check the comments for the task you are working on, or check the FAQs.
Whenever you have a problem or need help you have several options:
- Talk to your co-workers, they are your first line of defense. Chances are if you have a question then one of your colleagues did also, and may already have come up with a tip that they can share with you.
- Read your co-workers blogs, they may have already dealt with whatever issue or question you have and come up with an idea or solution.
- Add a comment to the SIL 20 for 2.0 blog mentioning your problem.
- Use the Talk to the Team chat widget on the Sno-Isle 20 for 2.0 blog to get answers to your questions in real time. If we’re not online, you can leave us a message–be sure to include your name, the nature of your problem, and your work schedule.
- Email the SIL 20 for 2.0 Team. In your email describe the problem, include your work schedule so that the team can contact you through a phone call if necessary.
My blog got labeled with the uber-threatening, Blogger Possible Violation of Terms of Service Message, ooh scary!
What does this mean, and how do I get it to go away?
Google which owns Blogger has probably identified your blog as potential spam. An automated process looks at all the new blogs that are created, and if it determines that it might be a SPAM blog, or just a bunch of links, or junk etcetera then it puts the account on hold.
There should be a link on your blog to ask for re-instatement. Once you ask for reinstatement a nice person with a cup of coffee and a No. 2 Ticonderoga pencil will then review your blog by hand and turn it back on. In the meantime you can’t edit or make changes, nor will anyone be able to comment on your blog while it’s in review.
If you don’t ask for re-instatement your blog will be assumed to be SPAM so if you got one of these messages ask for re-instatement ASAP. Once you click the reinstatement link, your blog should be active again in a couple days.

Web 2.0 Training: Accessing Blogger and other web sites.
Web 2.0 Classmates:
We’ve recently had a lot of problem reports from staff trying to access Blogger (blogspot.com). We’ve narrowed the problem down to how our network does Internet filtering and we’ve now fixed it so staff can access Blogger correctly.
As of March 28, 2008, we have no known access issues with Blogger or other Web sites on staff computers.
It’s possible you may still experience trouble completing tasks for the Web 2.0 training. If you do experience trouble with Web 2.0 training tasks, please continue to submit request for help directly to the Web 2.0 training team.

Is there a general troubleshooting tip that I should definitely try when I run into a problem?
Yes, check the proxy settings on your computer to make sure you unfiltered access to the web. The Proxy Settings For Employees link on the Intranet will help you with configuring the settings to unfiltered access.
◊ I can’t read some of the blogs. What should I do?
First check your proxy settings to be sure they are set for unfiltered access. The link is in the qustion directly above this question. If your proxy settings are correct you can try checking your security settings.
In Internet Explorer go to:

My blog has been blocked for OVER 10 DAYS!!! I’ve applied for reinstatement for 3TIMES and no one has responded to me. How the heck am I supposed to do this project if I’m stuck on step 2???
Hi Mickey,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having problems with Blogger getting your blog reinstated. I can understand how your situation would be frustrating. As you no doubt discovered in the Help page, the real question in regards to getting your blog reinstated is how long has it been since you asked for reinstatement. Mike Longley said that his blog was reinstated after two or three days. This 2 or 3 day window is what I’ve been operating on as a reasonable delay. If you’ve been waiting to hear back from blogger for longer than that I’d recommend that you create a new blog, either through Blogger or alternatively through WordPress.
In answer to your question about how to proceed while your blog is awaiting review, here’s what I suggest. First don’t just lose sight of the fact that the purpose of your blog is to serve as a record of your progress through the 20 for 2.0 project. I suggest that you proceed through each task and then type up your post in Word. When your blog is reinstated, or after you create another blog, simply cut and paste the text from Word into your blog for each task. If you have more questions please feel free to call me.
